Tourism and travel to Sweden




Sweden owns a land border with Norway from the west and Finland to the northeast, and a maritime border with Denmark, Germany and Poland to the south, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Russia to the east. Sweden is also linked to Denmark by a bridge - a tunnel across the Øresund.
Sweden is the third largest country in the European Union in terms of area (450,295 km2) and has a population of about 9.4 million people. Sweden low population density at 21 persons per square kilometer (53 per square mile), but the density increases in the southern half of the country. Approximately 85% of the population live in urban areas, and is expected to gradually increase these numbers as part of the current urbanization process. Stockholmasma Sweden is the largest city in the country (population of 1.3 million people in the metropolitan area and 2 million in the metropolitan area).
Sweden emerged as an independent and united during the Middle Ages. In the seventeenth century, the country has extended its territory to form the empire of Sweden. Empire has grown to become one of the biggest powers in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Sweden lost most of the territories occupied by outside the Scandinavian Peninsula during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The eastern half of Sweden and Finland which is in the present time, occupied Rossiafa in 1809. Last wars fought by Sweden directly was in 1814, when Sweden was forced Norway by military means to hold a personal union lasted until 1905. Since then, Sweden in peace and adopts a policy of non-alignment in peace and neutrality in wartime.
Tracking Sweden a constitutional monarchy and parliamentary system developed economy. It also ranks first in the world in the Economist Index of Democracy Index and seventh in the United Nations Human Development. Sweden is a member European Vialathad since January 1, 1995, and is a member of the
Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
